Leo Sofer began giving performances in 1989, aged 21. He has given thousands of performances in hundreds of schools, libraries, theatres and other performance venues, to many thousands of adults and children. To read more about his development as a performer, see this longer bio.
Leo’s performances for adults are a unique theatrical experience. Leo invites the audience to explore a story-theme together by asking “what does this theme mean to me?” and “how does it relate to my life?”. Thus, in the spirit of the stories our tribal ancestors would tell together, the story that then comes is for everyone there, speaking to the questions that hang in the air. Leo then tells intuitively, following his inner guidance to weave a multi-levelled story that takes his listeners deeper and deeper into a space of wondering, openness and insight. Leo also gives regular storytelling performances for children in Stroud. These informal and fun sessions feature his favourite stories for children as featured on his Palace of Stories website, as well as fresh new stories told in the moment for the children who come. Leo also plays music on the appalachian dulcimer and the accordion. Details of his upcoming performances can be found here, or by clicking on the dates on the right.
